What is a CDRE®?

A Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert (CDRE®) is

a neutral, unbiased real estate professional who has completed rigorous, application-only training

through the The Ilumni Institute, a leading education provider for divorce real estate professionals.

Taught by attorneys, judges, mediators, and industry leaders, the coursework spans months and prepares CDRE's to:

  • Prevent and mitigate conflict between divorcing parties
  • Navigate legal complexities specific to family law
  • Facilitate a fair and efficient real estate transaction

CDRE's follow a specialized listing protocol designed specifically to mitigate conflict, protect equality, and maintain momentum so client and attorneys don't get stalled by unnecessary drama or risk financial setbacks.

Learn About the CDRE® Designation

Commitment Beyond Certification

Unlike many real estate certifications, Tara’s work as a Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert™ involves ongoing collaboration and advanced training through the Ilumni Institute. Through weekly case study discussions, national peer support, and participation in the Ilumni Master Club and Speakers Bureau, she brings a level of insight and commitment that extends well beyond a traditional real estate approach.

Meet Tara Tatum

A second-generation real estate professional, Tara has been licensed in SC for over 25 years. Her career has spanned from Rookie of the Year to Realtor of Distinction.

Tara completed the rigorous and exclusive certification through the Ilumni Institute held by only two other real estate professionals in the state of South Carolina. This advanced designation equips her to collaborate effectively with attorneys, financial professionals, and divorcing clients on real estate matters that intersect with family law.

Tara is the only Charleston area Master Club member of Ilumni and Divorce Real Estate Expert member of the Charleston Cooperative Family Law Association (CCFLA) .  Her background includes certifications in negotiation, conflict management, buyer and seller representation, pricing strategy, and distressed property sales.  She also received certification as a divorce coach,  special training in mediation through the National Association of Realtors, and has taught classes for men and women rebuilding their lives after divorce.

Tara is a past Chair and Co-Chair of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors® Code Pros Committee, helping educate agents on ethical practices through real case studies.

Tara understands what it's like to make big decisions, especially about where to live,  in the midst of significant life transitions.  Whether supporting clients directly or serving as a resource for legal teams, Tara is committed to managing the real estate side of divorce with structure, neutrality, and court awareness.
